Once someone gets on a roll, they can sometimes be unstoppable. When you’re having a run of good luck, you just don’t seem to want to stop. Michael Pope is on that roll now as he brought home his second top-10 finish in a row when the Georgia Asphalt Series went racing down at Watermelon Capital Speedway (GA). Pope was able to wheel his car to a seventh place finish.
MICHAEL POPE CONTINUES STREAK AT WATERMELON
Solid Seventh For 16-year-old in GAS
“It was a pretty good race,” said Pope. “There were a lot of wrecks and we just had to drive smart. When we started off the race we were a little loose, so we adjusted the brakes to help the car getting into the corner. Through the race it started getting tight so that didn‘t help the car too much, it just made for a long night. But overall we toughed it out for a top-10 finish, we just need to keep building on them.”
GAS is now on a three week break and the regular season will resume September 23rd at Lanier National Speedway (GA), but Pope is still planning on spending some of his down time racing. This weekend he will be heading to South Alabama Speedway in Opp where he will race in the Cottonmouth 100 Pro Late Model event.
“We are heading to South Alabama for the Cottonmouth 100,” added Pope. “We are doing it mainly for us to get more seat time. The more seat time; the better off we will be. We have three weeks off for the GAS series, and it gets a little bit boring just sitting at home. We have run well at Opp before and I am really excited to head down there again, hopefully we can come home with a win.”
The Cottonmouth 100 at South Alabama Speedway will get underway this Saturday September 9th with racing action getting started at 7:00pm.
