16-year-old Michael Pope was able to bring home yet another top-10 finish at his favorite track, Peach State Speedway (GA) on Saturday night.  This continues his streak of solid finishes as the 16-year-old hotshoe works towards getting his first victory of the 2006 season.

Stretch of Solid Runs Continues For Youngster
“The car started off really good,” said Pope.  “We were able to start in the seventh position but we had a few long runs and the car seemed to be getting tighter and tighter throughout the race.  I think it might have been the way that I was driving it.  We just didn’t have the best night.”

A top-10 finish is an admirable, solid feat.  Especially in a series as competitive as the Georgia Asphalt Series which pulls in 30+ cars each event.  But 10th isn’t good enough for Pope, he wants to go for the win.

“I think we could have had at least a top-five car, but a top-10 is good.   If we can just keep building on these solid finishes we will be alright.  I am ready to go to Lanier Speedway, it will be a good place to start off new and hopefully bring home our first win.”
The next race for the Georgia Asphalt Series will be at Lanier National Speedway, August 5th as part of the Saturday of Speed with racing action getting started at 7pm.
