“For the first part of the race our car was really good,” said Pope. “We were able to turn up under cars and make good passes. About thirty or forty laps into the race we got under a car and that spun us and we had to go to the rear. From there on the car got really loose, I had to adjust the front brake in the car to get it to turn better. We were able to come back up through the pack. It was a good top-10 night considering we got spun. “
Lanier hasn’t always been on Pope’s list of favorite tracks but each time that he goes there he has gotten better and better.
“You have to have patience up here at this track,” added Pope. “You have to drive with your head. Now that we know about the setup we had on the car tonight I think we’ll be really good when we come back later in the year.
