Michael Pope was able to get his season right back on track in the latest Georgia Asphalt Series event at Lanier National Speedway (GA).  Bad luck may have bitten him at Peachstate, and Pope may have had to use his backup car but that didn’t stop the young driver from bringing home a solid fourth place finish, and getting his season rolling right along again.

Young Driver Solid In Backup Car
“Since last year I have really learned how to work traffic better then I did the year before. My crew has even told me how much better I am on the race track. It’s a great confidence builder to come here and have a great run.”

“Our backup car ran really well,” said Pope.  “I don’t have any complaints about it because it’s just as good as our primary car. We just need to thank our sponsors Brack Maggard and Southern Pan service. The team worked hard to getting this car ready and we’ll have the body back on the primary car at Peach State in a few weeks.

“We have really improved on our set ups all year. We sit down and talk; me, my dad Mr. Dewitt, and Buddy Wade, and we figure out what we are going to do.”

This also marked Pope’s best ever finish at the 3/8th mile track.    He was happy with a top-10 in the spring race, but a top-five now is even sweeter icing on the cake that has been his 2007 season.
