Pope’s Strong String In GAS Continues At Peach State
Points Racing Still Giving Youngster Top-10 Finishes
That strong steak continued on Saturday night, when Pope came home with a fifth-place finish in the Dawn Communications 100 at Peach State Speedway in Jefferson, GA.
"It was a good night for us,” said Pope, who came into the night fifth in GAS points. “We just started our car way too loose. All though practice we were having problems wit the car chattering in the corners and we fixed that after practice and it really helped us during the race.”
Pope and his team made some big changes to the car, but they couldn’t test those changes out after practice, because qualifying for the event got rained out.
"We didn't really get to test it before hand because qualifying got rained out, but the car got really loose during the race. I had to dial front brake so the car wouldn’t spin out in the corners. We just had to stay out of trouble because there were quite a few cautions tonight.
"I think to come home with a top-five as bad as the car was it was a good points night."
Pope will be back in action at Peach State Speedway again on May 26.
