On Saturday night at Peachstate Speedway, “Wild Child” Michael Pope proved that he isn’t afraid to live life on the wild side.  And by wild side, that means on the outside.  After having an early qualifying draw, Pope had to tough out qualifying in the hot summer sun at Peachstate Speedway and started the Hedman Husler 100 event from the 18th position.

before qualifying and got the car too loose, so we undid the adjustments and it just took off during the race.  It ended up being a great points day for us, and gives us even more momentum going into this week at South Alabama.”

Pope’s next race will be on Saturday June 2nd at South Alabama Speedway in the Viper Series Pigmy 100 event.

“It was a difficult race, but it was a lot of fun,” said Pope.  “Once (Bubba) Pollard got up under me, we jumped out on the outside.  I never knew that this track had an outside groove like that and once we got out there the car just took off.  The set up that we had on the car was just meant for the outside.  It was just awesome. “

Once the race was underway, and Pope found that outside groove he quickly moved his way up through the field and worked his way up to another top-five finish, coming home in the fifth spot and solidifying a spot for himself in the 2007 Georgia Asphalt Series points chase.

“At the beginning of the race I was a little down on myself because we were chattering the car earlier in the day and it was tight,” added Pope.  “But we made some adjustments
