Saturday night at Peachstate Speedway looked as though it might have been ‘The Night’ for young Michael Pope.  He was running third for most of the race, and looked the be in the position to challenge for the lead.
Bad Luck Finds Michael Pope at Peachstate
Young Driver Finishes 23rd after Tire Problems
Pope will be back in action on August 4th when he heads to Lanier National Speedway for the next GAS event.

But then, the bad luck that he has avoided all season long caught up to him, and a flat tire on lap 70 sent him home early, but the young driver was still in good spirits.

“We had a really good night going,” said Pope. “It was looking to be a really good points night for us.  We lost the right front tire going down into turn one, maybe 70 laps into the race.  It was just completely unavoidable.  We can’t really complain, we have had such good luck all year long going into this race, all top-10 finishes.

“That put an end to this streak, but maybe we can start a new streak.  We were definitely on our way to another one.  I wasn’t even really pushing the car any, I think that we had a little bit more left in it and I think that we could have challenge for the lead later in the race, but I didn’t want to push my car too early.”
