Michael Pope has had a stellar season in the Georgia Asphalt Series.  In addition to scoring his first win, he has had numerous top-five and top-10 finishes.  This past weekend, at the latest GAS event at Peachstate Speedway, the young driver proved just how good he is as he was able to rebound from an on track incident and bring home a solid 14th place finish.

"Both cars are pretty bad I know both cars need to have new body’s put on. Racing has its ups and downs this is one of the downs, and we will just have to fix it and go on from here.”

“It was crazy out there,” said Pope.  “Everybody just started slamming on the brakes and I thought that I had it missed but I got run into from behind.  I don’t know if the axel tubes are bent or if something on the frame is bent.  I didn’t know what was wrong with it.”

Despite the accident throwing a wrench in Pope’s plans for victory, he was able to salvage the night for a 14th place finish.

“We were able to make some repairs and get back out there,” added Pope.  “When we went back out the car started out alright but it just snapped and it started getting way loose.
